MILITARY NEWS

*Angola

The Su-27s have been delivered to Catumbela airbase.

*Bangladesh

The first two Mig-29s have been delivered last month with two MiG29UBs expected to follow before 2000. Soon the other four Fulcrums will
be delivered. Training of the pilots is performed in Russia at Krasnodar airbase.

*France

Both Falcon 50 are delivered at lahn-Bihoue were 24F will be established in 2000.

*Germany

The F100s of Fligght Systems will be replaced by A-4Ms within two years. The Skyhawks are now stationed in the desert at AMARC.

*The Netherlands

Plans of the government comprise the purchase of 14-16 light utility helicopters to replace the Bo105. 30 Longbow radars will be bought for
the AH64D. The Lynx helicopter fleet will be replaced by 20 NH90 from 2007 onwards. Three P3C Orions will be withdrawn from service. m
The 306 Sq at Hato will be deactivated and he 306 F-16 recce Sq will be disbanded. Note these are just plans.

*Phillipines

All six C-130Bs have been grounded due to a lack of cash.

*Rwanda

The AF is said to be negotiating for MiG-21 fighters which would be the first fighters of the country.

*Singapore

Three of the four KC135Rs will remain in the USA so only one tanker will be stationed in Singapore

*South Africa

The AF has a need for cash and has put 22 Mirage F1AZs and nine C160Zs on sale.

*Thailand

The AF has requested a delivery of 18 F-16A/Bs which are currently at AMARC including two for spare parts.

*UK

657Sq of the Army will relocate from Dishforth to Odiham as part of a special forces unit which will operate a few Chinooks.

The Harriers of 1Sq will relocate from Wittering to Cottesmore. 20Sq will stay at the base but Wittering will become a base for the Sea
