ELBIT SYSTEMS AWARDED CONTRACT FOR $12.5 MILLION TO SUPPLY DISPLAY SYSTEMS FOR ISRAEL AIR FORCE F-15 AIRCRAFT. Elbit Systems was awarded a contract for development and manufacture of advanced avionic systems for IAF F-15 aircraft. The value of the contract is $12.5 Million. Development is based on Elbit Systems' advanced technologies and extensive experience with these types of systems. Through its Texas-based subsidiary EFW, Elbit Systems is developing highly sophisticated display and recording systems for the F-15 being upgraded by the IAF. These systems will increase the amount of information presented to the pilot. The first prototypes will be supplied to the IAF in June 1997. System delivery will commence in November 1997. Display System: The cockpit display will enable the pilot to see all vital information including flight data, targets, ammunition and more. The F-15 will have a "smart display" - a flat panel color display using LCD technology and incorporating an advanced display processor. This is the first time that such displays will be in use by the IAF. Recording System: This system records all in-flight displays during training or operational flights. The new system uses ordinary commercial cassettes. Both systems were developed by Elbit Systems based on extensive experience with similar systems and the special operational requirements of the IAF. The systems were essentially "tailored" to IAF demands, and designed with expansion possibility to accommodate future requirements. Joseph Ackerman, President of Elbit Systems said "We attach great importance to our role in the IAF F-15 upgrade, enhancing the operational capabilities of the aircraft through application of today's most advanced technologies, vital for front-line aircraft performance.
