St. Bernard Software Unveils Free Services To Alert Public To Latest Security Threats and Available Patches

Opt-in Email Service and Patch Database Help IT Departments Worldwide Protect Vital Systems

SAN DIEGO – February, 2004 – St. Bernard Software Inc., a global provider of security solutions that protect against data loss, system threats and Internet abuse, today announced that it has launched a free, global opt-in email service to alert the public to the very latest Microsoft® security patches and critical updates as they become available.

Additionally, St. Bernard Software has created a new Web page that allows subscribers to view the status of the most recently announced patches added to its UpdateEXPERT® patch management solution database.

The services, which were unveiled last week, are available to both customers and non-customers of St. Bernard Software. The company’s UpdateEXPERT is a management tool that automates the process of researching patch histories and co-dependencies, using St. Bernard Software's independent metadatabase to validate, install and research thousands of patches.

“Patch management is a critical component of any network security strategy, and its importance continues to grow with the increasing complexity of patches being released to fix critical security flaws,” says Jeff Graham, UpdateEXPERT product manager. “Our e-mail and Web site information services offer real-time information for IT staffs to help stay ahead of the increasing number of viruses, worms and malicious code that threaten computers, networks and missioncritical data.”

Instructions for the free subscription to the opt-in “Patch Update” email are available here
