Canyoneers
City: Flagstaff
Tel: +1 928 526 0924
We trace our company's beginnings back to Nevills Expeditions, the first to carry
passengers for hire down the Colorado River through Grand Canyon. The story began in 1934
at the little hamlet of Mexican Hat, Utah when a young ex-Californian named Norman Nevills
decided to treat his new bride to a honeymoon trip down southeastern Utah's rollicking San
Juan River. It was a winter trip in a boat made of scrap lumber and it lasted only four
days, but that was long enough for Norman to become afflicted with that mixture of awe and
excitement river buffs now call "rapids fever".Norm, the son of a gold miner and
wildcat oil driller, was then working part time for the Rainbow Bridge Monument Valley
Expedition, which was exploring the area for national park status, and when one of its
staff expressed interest in going down the river to see and photograph Rainbow Natural
Bridge, Norm jumped at the opportunity.

Tel: +1 928 779 1919
Back when Arizona was a territory and vigilantes ruled the dirt streets, John W.
Weatherford rode into these parts by horse and buggy with a grand vision for the West. It
was on the very first day of the new century that Weatherford threw open the doors of his
grand hotel-- doors that would welcome presidents and gunslingers alike to a civilized
oasis in the wild, dusty West. Since then, this fabulous building has housed Flagstaff's
first telephone exchange company, a number of restaurants, a theater, a radio station and
a billiard hall. It has also survived fire, harsh weather, two world wars and a planned
demolition. After 20 years of restoration work, we are proud to share the Weatherford
Hotel and the chance to sample the flavor of Flagstaff's pioneer beginnings.

Native Californian Tim Macy opened Macy's in downtown Flagstaff in 1980. Macy's was the
first commercial coffee roaster in Arizona. In the last twenty years we've worn out a
coffee bean roaster, three ovens, two espresso machines, and a few refrigerators, and
we've expanded our seating a bit, but otherwise Macy's is still the same busy, bustling
place it always has been.Currently fourty people comprise the Macy's team. Our Bakers use
the finest, freshest ingredients they can find. We take great pride in creating classic
baked goods, such as pies, tarts, layer cakes, cheese cakes, brownies and cookies, and in
presenting the public with an all-vegetarian menu with an assortment of wheat-free,
dairy-free and vegan options. It is our hope that a quality product, great service, and a
unique atmosphere will keep our customers happy. You may find coffee as good as ours, but
you'll never find any better. Enjoy!

Brandy's
Restaurant
City: Flagstaff

Way back in 1976, when Flagstaff had about 50 places to eat, Ed Wojciak wandered west from
New Jersey. Upon meeting his future wife, Brandy, the two teamed up and founded La
Bellavia....occupying the space in the Merle Saver Building, which was once a TV. repair
shop, pizza parlor, a Chicken Delight and a sub shop. Ed and Brandy worked hard to remodel
and transform their odd shaped space into a workable restaurant.Years have passed and
Flagstaff has about 250 places to eat, but La Bellavia still keeps trying to serve the
best food around from its uniquely shaped space and historic south-side location.Brandy
later expanded the business to include catering. There wasn't a party she couldn't add her
innovative touches to. Her wedding cakes were out of this world...just ask any who's had
one, she hasn't catered for over fifteen years and they still receive phone calls
requesting wedding cakes! But, in 1993, when the opportunity arose to open a second
restaurant, Brandy chose to devote her efforts full-time to the new location, thus ending
her twelve-year catering career.
